Obituary for Denise Darcel Haskins

Denise Haskins was born in Portland, Oregon on April 17, 1960, where she lived with her family. She moved to Tacoma, Washington, where she had two children, Levi Jerome Liebelt and Jessica Ann Liebelt. She then moved back to Portland where she lived from 1983 to 1989 and then she moved to Grand Ronde, Oregon.

Denise worked for the tribe and went to school to get her RN Certification and in an elders disability nursing home. Sometime afterwards Denise became disabled herself. Then she made her residence on the Grand Ronde Reservation.

She loved to go to the beach and collect seashells and rocks from the beach. She called this her “water therapy”. She loved being with her family and grandkids. She loved to color with her grandkids and loved monkeys. She loved her culture and traditions and loved to watch her grandkids dance. She was very proud of them. She loved her animals Sissy and Gracy. Denise also like to bake treats with her grandkids to pass out to her family. For the last part of her years she took care of her mother as well.

Denise was 59 years of age when she passed away in Grand Ronde.

She is preceded in death by her father Bud Haskins Sr., husband Leroy Lee Liebelt, brother Buddy Haskins Jr., sister Debbie Haskins, brother Nathaniel (Fig) Jackson. She is survived by her mother Marilee Norwest, brother Shannon Haskins, sister Diane Haskins, sister Charisse Jackson, brother Brian Jackson, daughter Jessica Liebelt, son Levi Liebelt, grandsons Tristan Liebelt and Nacoma Liebelt, granddaughter Kalea, daughter-in-law Nichole Liebelt, and son-in-law Rafel Valdivia.

She was known to some of her friends as “BEASTY” and her friend really loved her. She will be missed.

A celebration of life will be held after virus restrictions are lifted. The Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center is caring for the family.

My heart was sadden to read about the the loss of Denise and I wanted to give my warmest condolences to the family. To lose someone so well loved can bring such sadness but the God of all comfort tells us at 2 Kings 20:5 He feels our pain. At we can read in the Bible John 5:28,29 that not only does God care but it will move him to remove all the suffering he sees and gives assurance that you will have her in your life once again. May all the beautiful memories you have give you calm and peace until God’s promises come true. Again so very sorry for your heartache. 💐
