Obituary for Donna Giesbrecht

Donna Giesbrecht, a resident of Rickreall, went to her home in heaven on Monday, August 10th. Donna was born on February 12, 1930 in Meade, Kansas the daughter of George and Frieda Ediger. Donna married Edward Giesbrecht on November 14, 1947 in the Salt Creek Baptist Church. They have celebrated 72 years together. Donna and Ed farmed together for many years. They raised strawberries , beans, corn and cattle on the farm. Donna drove the bus and picked up the kids for berry picking and ran the crew in the bean and berry fields. She later worked for Setniker Farms and helped them with 100 acres of strawberries. Donna was well known for her beautifully decorated wedding cakes. Donna enjoyed helping at Salt Creek Baptist Church and has been a long time faithful member. She was involved with church women’s group. She taught Sunday School and youth group. Donna loved little ones. She was an extremely hard worker. Her children remember Mom enjoyed watching Portland Wrestling on Saturday nights as a family. In recent years Donna enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune.

She is survived by her husband, Ed, daughter, Cheryl (Michael) Rainey, Sons, Don (Beverly) Giesbrecht, Gerald (Carol) Giesbrecht, sisters, Florence Reynolds, Jean Peterson, brothers, Bob and Norman Ediger, along with grandchildren, David, Chris, Eddie, Sheri, Charlie, Jenni, Kaci, Jonnie, Nathaniel, Bonnie, Nicole, Jamie, Jeff and Jennifer, 25 Great Grand children and and 11 Great Great Grand children.She was preceded in death by her daughter and son in law, Janice and Patrick Reynolds, daughter in law, Jan Giesbrecht, sister Clara Belle Ediger, and great granddaughters Tierra Reynolds and Ainsley Giesbrecht.

Graveside Services will be on Saturday, August 15th at 11:00AM in the Salt Creek Cemetery. Memorial Service will follow at 12:00PM in the Church Worship Center. Social distancing and masks will be required for those in attendance. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center for assistance with Donna and Ed’s memorial headstone.
