Obituary

Obituary for Jean L. Marsden

Jean Lucille Marsden passed away on February 1st, 2020 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s, she was only 74 years old. Jean was born on August 5, 1945 to Parents Anita and George Book in Dayton, Ohio. After her parent’s marriage ended; Jean and her family moved to live near relatives in Spokane, Washington. Jean’s mother Anita met and remarried Jean step father Jim Hern, who worked for the city of Spokane. Jean grew up in Spokane as the middle child of five children Bill, Connie, Jean, Jimmie, and Patty Ann. Jean graduated Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Spokane in 1964.
0n May 20, 1967 Jean married Michael Marsden. Jean moved to Moscow, Idaho where Mike got a job with the U.S. Forest Service. In Moscow Jean had two children, Adrian (1968) and Brian (1970). Jean moved to Fort Collins, Colorado while Mike worked on his master’s degree. In 1973, Jean’s family relocated to Missoula, Montana when the Forest Service transferred Mike to the U.S. Forest Service Fire Lab. In Missoula Jean had her third child Catherine (1973). In 1983, Jean’s family moved again to Fort Collins, Colorado, where Jean worked part time as an office worker and in a flower shop, but raising her children was always her main priority. After her husband Michael retired in 1993, Jean and Mike moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to help take care of Jean’s mother Anita. In 2015, Jean and Mike moved to Monmouth, Oregon, to be near their daughter Catherine.
Jean was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and the disease robbed her of her joy of playing Bunco and cooking. She is survived by her husband Michael Marsden; her children Adrian Marsden, Brian Marsden, and Catherine Furman; her brother Bill Book, and sister Patty Ann; and her two grandchildren Kevin Obert, and Rachel Obert.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday February 6th, at 1:00 PM at the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center, 287 SW Washington St. Dallas, Oregon. Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center is caring for the family. www.dallastribute.com
