Obituary

Obituary for Mildred Ellen Herrin

Mildred Ellen Herrin was born Mildred Tate in Seattle Washington on May 23rd, 1931. Mildred passed November 6th, 2020 in Dallas Oregon at age 89. Mildred married her husband Robert Herrin in June of 1950 and they were married for sixty-two years before his passing in 2012. Millie is preceded in death by her parents Leroy and Ellen Tate, Robert Herrin, and her sister Mary Lou. Mildred has one surviving sister Muriel who lives in Shoreline Washington.

In Millie and Robert’s sixty-two years of marriage, they shared many roles in the community. They worked on dairy farms, were camp hosts on federal lands, and managed a girl’s school near Astoria Oregon. However, one of Millie’s greatest accomplishments was fostering over sixty children. Through Mildred’s dedicated commitment to the foster care system, she was able to assist numerous families in their time of need.

Throughout the years many foster children had contacted Millie to thank her for her dedication; however, Millie always looked forward to Karen, Linda, and Scott Hanes’s visits and Karen’s weekly phone calls.

In her later years, Millie volunteered at a Humane Society thrift-store where she was able to ensure that pets were provided veterinary care and services.

In 2008 Millie and Robert moved in with their son and daughter in law (Mike and Judy) where they were lovingly surrounded by six grandkids and nine great-grandkids. Mildred has moved on, but her memory will live on through all the lives she has touched.

Viewing will be from 11:00 to 11:30am and funeral services will begin at 12:00 noon both on Tuesday, November 10th in the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center. www.dallastribute.com
