Obituary for Mollie Jo Fresh (Scheelar)

Mollie Jo Fresh (Scheelar) ~ November 28th, 1958-February 5th, 2020

In loving memory of Mollie Fresh, age 61, a resident of Dallas Oregon, who died peacefully surrounded by close family in Portland Oregon on February 5th, 2020. She was born on November 28th 1958 in Salem Oregon, the daughter of Donald Scheelar and Dessa Scheelar (Holmes).

Mollie attended University of Oregon and graduated from Chemeketa Community College with her associate degree in nursing. She then worked at Salem Hospital for 38 years, primarily working in the emergency department and outpatient infusion. Mollie found joy in caring for others; showing compassion to all those who crossed her path. Salem Hospital is where she met the man who stole her heart, Michael, who she married June 23rd, 1984. The lovely couple had two daughters, Brittney and Kendra, who followed in her footsteps and became emergency nurses as well.

Mollie took pleasure in getting away to the Oregon coast and spending time with family and friends during her recent retirement. She had a knack for cooking phenomenal meals and baking the most delicious pies. Mollie enjoyed wine tasting, traveling, walking their dog Rudy, playing a good game of Pinochle, and of course shopping at Nordstrom. Mollie loved to laugh, had a witty sense of humor, and her outgoing personality drew in those around her.

She was proceeded in death by her parents and her sister Nancy Scheelar. She is survived by her husband Michael Fresh, daughters Brittney Fresh and Kendra Fresh Hockman (Wally), her sister Cynthia Swanson (Ronald), her brother Jim Scheelar (Marianne), and her brother Mark Scheelar (Cheri), plus numerous nieces and nephews who adored her.

A memorial service will be held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church; 790 Marion St. NE Salem Oregon 97301 on February 29th, 2020 at 11:00am with light refreshments to follow. If interested in donating to a charity in Mollie’s name, you can donate money to the Oregon Humane Society at
